Gary Kaulback releases new Mountain DVD
Gary Kaulback has just released his new "On the Mountain" video. This 50 minute video provides an excellent introduction to the history and heritage of Hamilton Mountain. The video in DVD format is retailing at $14.95 with a portion of the proceeds going to heritage projects. It is available at several Hamilton locations and that number will be growing ion coming days as arrangements are completed. For more information about the video and where it is available simply visit hamiltonmountain.ca. This is a project which has enjoyed the support of the HMHS and its members over the past two years that it has been in production.

New Mountain Website
A new website has been created for those interested in the history and heritage of the Hamilton Mountain. It is available at hamiltonmountain.ca. It is not only promoting the new "On the Mountain" DVD produced by Gary Kaulback but it will serve as a connecting place for those seeking a new Mountain meeting place on the Internet. Check it out!

Auchmar Restoration:
Support for the restoration of Auchmar remains high on the HMHS's list of priorities. A resolution was recently approved to direct a financial donation towards the restoration of Auchmar through the Heritage Hamilton Foundation's "Auchmar Challenge Fund". (See more details below.) The HMHS wants to encourage the community to recognize how important it is to find a way to preserve this important remnant of our Mountain history.

Auchmar Challenge Fund: The Heritage Hamilton Foundation has established an "Auchmar Challenge Fund". They have set aside $25,000.00 to be used to match, dollar-for-dollar, donations from the community for the restoration of the southern entranceway of the Auchmar manor house. (Income tax receipts will be issued for all donations of $20.00 or more.) Donations may be directed to the Heritage Hamilton Foundation, P.O. Box 89016, Westdale Postal Outlet, Hamilton, ON, L8S 4R5. Inquiries may also be directed to heritagehamiltonfoundation@gmail.com

"Mountain Memories" is Back in Print
A reprint of the highly successful book Mountain Memories is now available. While it is described as a pictorial history it is much more than just pictures. It tells the story of the original settlement and growth of the Mountain community. It is aimed at helping those who live on the Mountain today to appreciate more fully the character of the community of which they are a part. Copies may be secured through the Mountain Bookstore at 560 Concession Street, and it is on sale at all HMHS events. If those options are not convenient then you may reserve a copy via e-mail by writing to bernhardt.r@gmail.com. with the subject line "Mountain Memories". The cost is $35.00.

New E-mail Address for the HMHS
The HMHS now has a new permanent e-mail address. Correspondence for the HMHS may now be directed to: hamiltonheritage1@gmail.com

Questions about our community?

Often people have questions about their neighbourhood or their local family roots and don't know where to find the answers. Well, we will be the first to admit that we at the HMHS don't have all the answers. However, we are certainly interested in helping people find the answers to their questions. We are proposing to post the questions that people submit to us so that those within our group and others in our community who are knowledgeable about our community's history can perhaps lend a hand. Visit the "You Were Asking" page to learn how to share your questions or to help with the challenge of finding answers.

We would like to hear from you!

General communications with the HMHS should be directed to hamiltonheritage1@gmail.com. Material for posting and suggestions related specifically to the website should be directed to Bob Bernhardt, the HMHS Webmaster, at: bernhardt.r@gmail.com
